On my tour of China in June 2014, I spent many hours traveling by bus. Charter buses mostly, and smaller shuttle buses. I present here a photo essay of images captured while inside a bus.
The GoPro 3+ Black camera was usually suction-cup mounted to the window, on timelapse or single shot mode. At times I shot handheld using a selfie stick or GorillaPod.
My style of street photography focuses on discovery of architecture, civil engineering, social norms, culture, fashion, and textures. In these fleeting travel moments there is little time to think of composition or context. Curious details and interesting elements reveal themselves on closer inspection. I’ve included notable aspects in the captions.
I have very little context for the locations and buildings in these shots and can’t read Chinese; if you are familiar with them please share your comments below. 🙂
Fashion: Casually average drab (shorts & tees) meets poppy pinks and bubbly blues. Pink jumper lady is rocking the mod hairdo. Composition: Zig zagging lines move the eye right-left-right-left
Fashion: Cute graphic tee twinsies. Culture: Parasols way more popular here than in USA, it’s fashionably fun & functional! The sun is obscured by smog in many areas but hey, it’s hot!
Fashion: More bright blues and pinks. Shiny pink parasol on the left looking smart and sassy with her neon green collar and white wedges!
Architecture and Civil Engineering: Circle cutouts, boulder, understated bonsai, traffic cones and popup registration booth?
